An Air-Tight Resume, Transparency, and Preparing Your Story

by Jason Nemoy

For those that are in transition, you might be continuously tweaking your resume to ensure it’s updated and ready for use. Please ask yourself… is it accurate? Quick story: A colleague of mine recently shared her resume and requested feedback. I already knew her work history and immediately noticed she left out an employer of 5-6 months. I asked about it and I’ll be honest… I didn’t care for her reasoning. After some back-and-forth dialogue, she made the corrections to both her resume and LinkedIn profile. And she prepared her story regarding movement in employment. Potential employers are great investigators. I always err on the side of transparency. Be truthful, don’t hide anything. Please be sincere and up-front about your story.
